The Holy Spirit Our Supernatural Guest: TB Joshua’s Teaching

🕊️ Holy Spirit Blog Series

In Episode 1 of the “Who Is the Holy Spirit?” series, we discovered the Holy Spirit as the third Person of the Trinity—the very presence of God. In this second episode, we go deeper to understand the Holy Spirit as our Supernatural Guest.

Just as a guest is welcomed into a home, we are called to welcome the Holy Spirit into our lives. When we give Him a place of honor, He makes our hearts His dwelling place. Prophet TB Joshua often described the Christian journey as a relationship with the Holy Spirit—where He becomes our Comforter, Guide, and source of supernatural power.

The Holy Spirit Our Supernatural Guest

We all desire to know more about our wonderful unseen Guest—the Holy Spirit. In John 14:15–16, Jesus promises the Holy Spirit. Someone is with us today in the Person of the Holy Spirit.

A guest is welcomed, honored, and given a place of importance. Unlike a human guest, the Holy Spirit is a Supernatural Guest who transforms His host.

Revelation 3:20

"Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me."

In John 14:15, Jesus said: “If you love Me, keep My Command”. This shows us that Jesus does nothing without His Word. He speaks to us through His Word, by His Spirit—because His Word reflects His character. Christ and His Word are one (John 1:1–2).

In John 14:16, Jesus reveals that the Holy Spirit is “another Comforter”— “another Helper”. Jesus was the first Helper. In His physical absence, the Holy Spirit was sent to take His place—to be with us forever, through His Word and by His Spirit.

The Holy Spirit Our Guest: How to Welcome the Holy Spirit

John 14:17

"Even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him. You know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you."

In John 14:17, Jesus said: “…the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him…”. This verse highlights an important truth: while the world cannot receive or recognize the Holy Spirit, He is known and experienced by those who truly follow Christ.

You cannot receive the Holy Spirit without abiding in His Word. To know Jesus is to know His Word. To love Him is to keep His Word.

Prophet TB Joshua teaches that the Holy Spirit goes to where He is honored and desired, not merely where He is needed.

🎵 Listen to a song composed by TB Joshua on this truth: “Welcome to My Heart“.

Our heart is the contact point and dwelling place for the Holy Spirit. But the question is: Is your heart free? Are you free from your past? Are you living in the present or still stuck in the past?

To host the Holy Spirit, TB Joshua teaches that our heart—where He dwells—must be free from offenses, bitterness, envy, jealousy, and pain from the past. If these are present in our hearts, the Holy Spirit will be displaced, unwelcome, and will not remain.

Just as a guest may leave if neglected, the Holy Spirit can withdraw if grieved by our actions (Ephesians 4:30).

The Holy Spirit Our Supernatural Guest: The Apostles’ Experience of the Spirit

The Apostles knew Jesus because they knew the Holy Spirit. To know Jesus is to know the Holy Spirit. Acts 4:23, 31, Acts 6:3, Acts 13:52, Acts 16:6–7.

Let us note two truths about the Holy Spirit:

1. He is a Person.

2. He is Divine.

A person has the ability to walk, choose, and teach—so does the Holy Spirit. He is not merely an influence or a force—He is God, dwelling in us as our ultimate Teacher, Guide, and Helper.

Be Filled with the Holy Spirit

Who is the Holy Sprit? TB Joshua

Who are you as a Christian?
Ephesians 5:18 commands all believers to “be filled with the Spirit.” This means that every Christian must be filled with the Holy Spirit.

In Acts 4:31, when the believers had prayed, the place was shaken, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the Word of God boldly. Take note: there was no visible evidence of miraculous power—just boldness in speaking God’s Word.

In Acts 13:52, the disciples were filled with joy and with the Holy Spirit, showing that the Spirit also fills us with inner strength and joy, not just outward signs.

Conclusion

The Holy Spirit is more than a visitor—He is a Supernatural Guest in the Christian life who desires to stay with us forever. When we value His presence, He fills us with wisdom, strengthens our faith, and transforms us from within. But if we ignore or grieve Him, we miss the fullness of His comfort, guidance, and power.
